I let out a squeal and clapped my hands over my mouth. Before me was one of Silas’ very first photos-an ultrasound.
The cooler weather has finally blown into the South, and while most of us have already been stubbornly dressing as if fall actually felt like fall, the flannel shirts and boots are worn in abundance now.
Pulling my jacket tight as I walked around my neighborhood yesterday, I thought of the children who are making long journeys across countries as refugees. As winter comes closer, the families find themselves with shoes that are literally threadbare. The children don’t have warm clothes to protect them from the biting cold wind. One of my favorite organizations, Samaritan’s Purse, supplies these families with warm clothes and shoes while sharing the love of Jesus! What does this have to do with you?
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” // Galatians 6:9
Today Reflecting Hope Photography is a year old! It’s hard to believe it has already been a year since I took the leap and started this business. From sweet families to amazing seniors, and shooting my first wedding, this year has been so full of joy and more incredible than I could have ever imagined! God blessed me with so many opportunities this year, and I have been able to meet so many amazing people! Thank you to everyone who has supported me as I follow this dream! I truly could not have done it without you.
Heather & Brett’s wedding at Watson Farms was so beautiful and glorified God as two of the sweetest people I know began their journey as husband and wife! When Heather first asked me to photograph their wedding, I already knew it was going to be perfect! From the first look to the sunset send off, their day was nothing short of that; perfect. Watching Heather’s excitement as she got ready to see Brett was so beautiful, and their first look was simply the sweetest. Heather and Brett, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day! You both are so incredible, and I can’t wait to see how God works in your lives. Enjoy reliving your special day through these photos!
Their day ended with a beautiful sunset, and the beginning of their journey together as husband and wife!
I never knew a country could steal my heart so quickly.
I’ve been on three mission trips now, and God has always worked in amazing ways! This, still, was my first international trip. I had no idea what to expect. To be honest, I didn’t really know what we were going to be doing other than prayer-walking. Within the first day, however, God showed me the schedule for the week. Love. I stepped into the church on our first morning, and was immediately captivated by the joyful faces of the children as we helped serve breakfast to them. We walked on dusty roads and prayed for the people in the small village of Conevisa. When a little girl needed to go home, but wouldn’t leave without us, we walked with her family to their home and loved on each child that followed.
I had never felt happier than I did when two of my closest friends and our translator were in that home playing Chris August and twirling with little girls in our arms.
I left my heart in Guatemala last week, and can’t wait to go back.
As I have so much to share, expect more posts about Guatemala in the coming weeks!
“Have courage and be kind.” –Disney’s Cinderella
Ever since I first heard that quote, I knew it was a perfect motto to live out. In this life, there are constantly times where we must have courage and trust God, and be kind; loving others as He does.
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
So often we step out the door, yet stay in our comfort zones. We only speak with the people we’re comfortable with or know already. We try to resist the Spirit’s calling to witness to a stranger, because we’re afraid of rejection. It’s hard to live for God when we’re busy in our “comfort bubble”. Yes, that is a real thing. 😉 Sometimes God calls us out into uncharted territory or rough seas, and we may become so scared. We can’t see why He would give us more than we can handle. We question God’s will, or His love for us. Yet, He reaches out and leads us through, and in the end, we can see how we’ve grown.
Maybe God is calling you to something outside of your comfort zone. Maybe you are terrified, because you know you can’t do it by your own strength. The good news is, He can. Have courage in knowing that no matter what you face, God is with you with each step.
This past month I was blessed to get to photograph one of my very best friends! Celeste is such a joy to be around, and is truly the kindest girl I know! She just radiates her love for Jesus, and lights up any place with her bubbly personality! Enjoy these photos!
“For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.” – Audrey Hepburn I have been blessed to become friends with Brooklyn over the past few years, and she is truly a joy to be around! She is beautiful inside and out, and you can almost always find her with a smile on her face. She’ll make sure you feel included, and is such an encouragement! Enjoy these photos to kick off your weekend! 🙂
