Tiffany & Sage // A Spring Wedding

Several years ago, Tiffany was my small group leader, and she was a constant source of encouragement to me. Watching her become a bride on Saturday was so precious, and I couldn’t imagine a more perfect day for their wedding! In the backyard of his parents’ home, surrounded by friends and family, Sage and Tiffany became husband and wife. Their wedding day was so full of Jesus, and God was glorified! The love Tiffany and Sage has for each other is so evident.

Tiffany and Sage, thank you for giving me the honor of capturing your day! I am so excited to see what God has in store for you and your marriage.

Congratulations, Tiffany & Sage!

Blessings, Moriah

Hillary & Eric // A Daphne, Alabama Wedding

The Daphne Civic Center was the perfect location for two incredible people to begin their forever. Hillary beamed with excitement as she walked down the aisle, her father leading her. Eric’s eyes teared up as he laid eyes on the woman who would become his wife in just a matter of minutes. After vows were exchanged, Mr. and Mrs. Hadley walked back down the aisle, but this time, as husband and wife! Family and friends celebrated with them long into the night, and you can tell they are well loved.

Hillary and Eric, thank you for allowing me to capture your beautiful wedding day!

Congratulations, you two!

Blessings, Moriah

Delight Retreat 2016

Leavenworth Washington Delight Retreat-1-10
In January, I registered for the Spring Delight Retreat, even though I wasn’t sure if everything would fall into place for me to get there. Like God often does, He provided everything I needed—the best travel buddy, all the funds necessary to go, and a peace that passes all understanding.
I had no idea what God had in store for me at the retreat. From the moment we joined several other Delight girls at the Seattle airport on Thursday, I knew I was right where I needed to be. It was like a family reunion–not as if we had just met. Over the week strangers became sisters, and treasured friendships began. We shared stories across tables, prayed for each other every day, and celebrated as God freed us from so much weight we had carried. There is something about like-minded believers coming together and doing what they were created to do! It was such a blessing to be able to go to the Delight Retreat, and it was a week that has left me forever changed!
Flying across the country to spend a week in Washington led me to grow in ways I could have never imagined as I faced fears and laid them at our Father’s feet. Worshiping with over 30 women every day led me to learn more about my Creator, and to open my heart to Him. The creative sessions led me to experience new skills as a photographer, and my small group reminded me of how community is supposed to be. Delight in the Lord and be FREE, friends!

When I first started praying about attending the retreat, I knew I didn’t want to fly alone! I messaged Kristi and we were both so excited to find out that we had been praying for a “travel buddy” for the retreat and God had answered our prayers! This girl is such an encouragement and a joy to be around!! I love you, Kristi!

Erin ran up and hugged me as soon as she saw me in the Seattle airport, and we had such an amazing time of getting to know each other over the next week! She’s so beautiful, inside and out, and truly is a woman after God’s heart!

Kaytlun // Class of 2016

“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep His commandments.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭7:9‬ ‭
I first met Kaytlun three years ago, when she sang at an event at our church. I was blown away by her talent, and her passion to worship our Father! There is nothing more beautiful than watching someone worship with their whole heart, and I love watching Kaytlun worship. Last month Kaytlun and her family were in town again, and we managed to squeeze in a mini senior session during golden hour. I had so much fun spending this time with her, and loved capturing her beautiful self as a senior! Kaytlun, I know God is using you in great ways, and has incredible plans for your life!
I am so excited to share some of my favorites from this session! Happy Thursday!

Silas // The First Year

I let out a squeal and clapped my hands over my mouth. Before me was one of Silas’ very first photos-an ultrasound.

“You?” I whispered in excitement. She nodded. The sun filtered through the window, reflecting how I felt inside: excited and joyful. I couldn’t stop smiling on the way home, and already knew God had a special plan for their baby.
From the very first moment, I was head-over-heels for this baby boy. I had prayed for him for years, and could not be more excited to meet him. Holding him at just two days old was surreal, one of those moments when you can’t help but see how good God is.
Every few months in this past year I walked down the road to capture Silas’ precious milestones as he grew. Today, on his birthday, I’m sharing some of my favorite moments!
Happy Birthday Silas!
Just three months old…
Four months came, and Silas was just beginning to sit up on his own!
Six months old, and full of so many expressions!
9 months old…Silas was standing and crawling!
And now…one year old! (I think he’s excited!)
He wasn’t so sure about the idea of a “cake smash”…
…but he loved playing with the candle!
Wish Silas a Happy Birthday in the comments!

Giving to Others // The Flannel Sessions

The cooler weather has finally blown into the South, and while most of us have already been stubbornly dressing as if fall actually felt like fall, the flannel shirts and boots are worn in abundance now.

Pulling my jacket tight as I walked around my neighborhood yesterday, I thought of the children who are making long journeys across countries as refugees. As winter comes closer, the families find themselves with shoes that are literally threadbare. The children don’t have warm clothes to protect them from the biting cold wind. One of my favorite organizations, Samaritan’s Purse, supplies these families with warm clothes and shoes while sharing the love of Jesus! What does this have to do with you?

This is where “The Flannel Sessions” come in.

One Year //

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” // Galatians 6:9

Today Reflecting Hope Photography is a year old! It’s hard to believe it has already been a year since I took the leap and started this business. From sweet families to amazing seniors, and shooting my first wedding, this year has been so full of joy and more incredible than I could have ever imagined! God blessed me with so many opportunities this year, and I have been able to meet so many amazing people! Thank you to everyone who has supported me as I follow this dream! I truly could not have done it without you.

It was intimidating taking that first step, diving into the photography industry. I had a dream, a hope, but I was not sure if I would see it happen (I have!). My prayer for you today is that you will take the first step (or leap!) into the unknown. That you will put aside all doubts and fears, and embrace the calling God has placed for you right now. It may be terrifying to take that step, but it is an amazing thing when you look back. Never stop pursuing God’s calling on your life, even if you’re scared to step out of your comfort zone.
Here’s to leaps of faith, and another year of capturing beautiful stories.

Dear Senior Girl

Dear Senior Girl,
You have just one more year left in high school. You’ve been through a lot to get to this point, and you are going to do amazing things. As you are back in school, here are three truths I want you to know and remember in days to come.
1. You are valued and so loved.
You survived middle school. Those four years where bullying is known to be at an all time high, and girls are just mean. Sadly, many girls are still mean in high school, college, and sometimes those mean girls just grow up to be mean women. They will tell you that you don’t belong. They may tell you that you should look or dress a certain way to be pretty. Guys may have broken your heart. You might just struggle with insecurity. No matter what anyone ever tells you, I want you to know that you are so loved. Jesus died for you because He LOVES you! You are priceless in His eyes; you are a daughter of the King! You are beautiful and created in His image. Every little thing that makes you you, just makes you that much more gorgeous. Don’t believe the lies. Trust in the One who created you just the way you are.
2. It’s okay to not have your entire life planned out by graduation.
You may already have been accepted to your first choice college with a full ride and have the next five years mapped out. But maybe you don’t have any plans. You don’t know what God is calling you to yet. You see everyone else excitedly sharing their dreams for the future when asked, “What do you want to do when you graduate?”, and feel like you’re missing something. There is nothing wrong with not knowing exactly what’s in store. Don’t worry about what God has planned for you. If you are following His Word, you are in God’s will, and He will place you exactly where He wants you. Lean on Him; He is faithful.
3. Don’t ever let anyone dim your light.
Whether you’re going to college, or just out into the world, people are going to try to dim your light for Christ. They will pressure you to blend in, to stop living out your faith. You are called to be set apart; different. It’s never easy, but He is with you and walking you through with every step. Beautiful girl, just keep shining for Him.
“Don’t shine so others can see you. Shine so that through you, others can see Him.” – C.S. Lewis
Even if you are not a senior, these are important truths for every girl to remember. I always love to pray and encourage others, so don’t be afraid to send me an email! I would love to get to know you!
Blessings, Moriah
